Middle School Placement
At Epiphany School, we view the middle school placement process as a learning opportunity for our students. By thoughtfully and intentionally equipping students with the academic and social-emotional skills to transition to their next schools, we are also educating and preparing them for the many transitions they will face throughout life.
Epiphany School is the only Seattle-area independent elementary school with a staff person dedicated to middle school placement. Alexis Ortega has 10+ years of experience working in the admissions department at independent schools, and knowledgably and reassuringly guides students and families though every step of the middle school application process, advising on right-fit options, interview and essay-writing best practices, and what to look for when touring schools. Her role as the Associate Director of Enrollment Management & Admission is largely devoted to supporting families with outplacement.
"Epiphany's outplacement coordinator expertly guided us through the middle school application process by knowing our daughter's strengths and understanding each school in depth. From reading essays and interview prep, to expert coaching and support during decision week, she offered next-level service with a sense of calm! Our daughter was a strong candidate in her own right, but Epiphany's outplacement support was integral to her ultimately landing at her (and our) top-choice middle school." — Robyn Hagle, parent of 2022 alumna
What to Expect: Year by Year
Middle School Directors' Info Panel
Epiphany School has hosted a Middle School Director’s panel each fall. Over 15 area middle schools are represented, providing our families the opportunity to hear directly from school leaders. This year, we are partnering with Puget Sound Independent Schools to share this resource with families across our region. If you are interested in learning more about independent middle schools in the Seattle area, please feel to watch this previous recording!
